{"id":5444,"date":"2026-03-11T15:54:32","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T15:54:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.flybirdworld.com\/?p=5444"},"modified":"2026-03-11T15:54:32","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T15:54:32","slug":"spring-bird-migration-grows-at-freezout-lake-wild-wings-festival-set-for-march-20-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.flybirdworld.com\/es\/spring-bird-migration-grows-at-freezout-lake-wild-wings-festival-set-for-march-20-22\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Bird Migration Grows at Freezout Lake; Wild Wings Festival Set for March 20\u201322"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MISSOULA, Mont. \u2014 Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks reported that 11,400 light geese and 352 swans were counted Tuesday at the Freezout Lake Wildlife Management Area, according to the agency\u2019s migration tracking dashboard.<\/p>\n<p>Bird counters monitoring the area said the number of light geese continues to grow as the spring migration progresses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLight goose numbers continue to increase,\u201d observers reported Tuesday. \u201cThere are also reasonably good numbers of ducks across parts of the WMA, with the primary species being Northern Pintails and Mallards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each spring, tens of thousands \u2014 and sometimes more than 100,000 geese and swans per day \u2014 pass through the Freezout Lake area during migration.
